What are fillers?
Dermal fillers are products made up of a naturally occurring sugar in the body called hyaluronic acid. These products are safe and hypoallergenic. Filler treats by actually “filling in” wrinkles, deep creases, and loss of facial volume. There are different types of filler to address different areas that can be treated. The end result is natural-looking and long-lasting.

How do I prepare for a filler appointment?
If you are interested in filler, there are important considerations prior to treatment. Bruising is normal and expected after filler injections. There are steps you can take to help minimize the risk of bruising.
For instance prior to treatment, please stop nonessential anticoagulants for up to 5 days, unless directed by a physician.
- Stop taking Aspirin, forms of Ibuprofen- Advil, Aleve, Celebrex, Naprosyn, or any medication classified as an NSAID (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs). It is okay to take Tylenol if necessary.
- Refrain from alcohol consumption
- Stop Herbal supplements that may cause you to bleed, (ie: ginseng, garlic, ginger, gingko, Biloba)
- Stop Vitamin E or fish oil supplements
DO NOT stop prescribed medications such as Coumadin or Xeralto!!!
What should I expect during treatment?
Local or topical numbing medication may be used to maximize your comfort. Let your provider know if you have allergies to lidocaine or epinephrine. Ice packs are applied post treatment.
What should I expect after treatment?
Swelling will occur and resolve within two weeks. Apply ice packs 20 minutes on 20 minutes off as needed, this will also help to decrease bruising. Swelling and bruising will have resolved by the two-week mark and your ultimate look will have set.
